Privacy & Data Protection (GDPR)
At StartBiz we care about the security of your personal data. In Belgium/EU your data is processed under the GDPR (EU 2016/679; "AVG" in Dutch).
What data we collect
Name, email, phone, country, documents you upload, application and payment details, and signature/consent records.
Purpose and legal basis
Your data is processed only to provide the service, perform the contract, meet legal obligations and communicate with you (GDPR art.6-1-b,c).
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectify, erase, object to processing and data portability. Contact us to exercise these rights.
Retention and security
Data is protected with encrypted transport (HTTPS) and access control; documents are kept in private storage. Data is retained only for as long as necessary.
Account deletion
You can permanently delete your account in the app (Account → Delete account); your personal data and applications/documents are deleted and you can no longer sign in. Invoice/accounting records required by law are kept in anonymised form for the Belgian legal retention period (typically 7 years after the relevant year).
Transfers
Your data may be shared, within the legal framework, with partners needed to deliver the service (e.g. payment and accounting providers); it is never sold for other purposes.
AI assistant (QIH AI Digital Reception)
StartBiz may offer an AI digital reception/assistant provided by an external service, QIH Hub AI Digital Reception (Quantum Intelligence Hub, ai.qihhub.com). When you choose to interact with it, the messages and details you type (e.g. your question, name or contact info) are sent to that external service to generate a reply. Please do NOT submit unnecessary sensitive information (passwords, ID/passport numbers, financial data) in the chat. A human StartBiz agent may take over when needed. The underlying AI technology is operated by QIH under its own terms; StartBiz does not use your chat data to train AI models.
Payments (Stripe)
For paid services, StartBiz directs you to a secure payment page hosted by Stripe (a payment processor). StartBiz does NOT collect or store your card number, CVV, expiry or payment credentials — these are entered on and processed by Stripe under its own privacy and security terms. StartBiz only records payment status to manage your application. In the mobile app, Stripe pages open in the secure system browser.
Mobile app — camera, photos & documents
In the mobile app, camera access is used only when you choose to photograph a document to upload for your application; document/photo selection is user-initiated. The app does NOT request broad photo/video library access on Android. Documents you capture or upload are processed solely for your application/service. The mobile app does NOT use the microphone.
Data retention periods
We keep data only as long as necessary for each purpose: active account/customer data — while your account is active; applications and documents — for the duration of your application and related service; support/communication data — for a limited period to handle your requests; payment/invoice/accounting records — retained to meet legal obligations (see below); deleted accounts — personal data is deleted or anonymised (see Account deletion). Under Belgian accounting law, invoices/accounting records are generally kept for about 7 years (from 1 January following the relevant year); other legal obligations may require different periods, so retention follows the applicable legal requirement rather than a single fixed rule.
